A 2-Round Anonymous Veto Protocol

چکیده
The dining cryptographers network (or DC-net) is a seminal technique devised by Chaum to solve the dining cryptographers problem — namely, how to send a boolean-OR bit anonymously from a group of participants. In this paper, we investigate the weaknesses of DC-nets, study alternative methods and propose a new way to tackle this problem. Our protocol, Anonymous Veto Network (or AV-net), overcomes all the major limitations of DC-nets, including the complex key setup, message collisions and susceptibility to disruptions. While DCnets are unconditionally secure, AV-nets are computationally secure under the Decision Diffie-Hellman (DDH) assumption. An AV-net is more efficient than other techniques based on the same public-key primitives. It requires only two rounds of broadcast and the least computational load and bandwidth usage per participant. Furthermore, it provides the strongest protection against collusion — only full collusion can breach the anonymity of message senders.

In 2006, Hao and Zieĺınski proposed a 2-round anonymous veto protocol (called AV-net), which provides exceptional efficiency compared to related techniques. In this paper, we add a self-tallying function to the AV-net, making it a general-purpose voting protocol. The new protocol works in the same setting as the AV-net it requires no trusted third parties or private channels, and participants e...

Anonymous Veto (AV) and Dining cryptographers (DC) are two basic primitives for the cryptographic problems that can hide the identity of the sender(s) of classical information. They can be achieved by classical methods and the security is based on computational hardness or requires pairwise shared private keys. In this regard, we present a secure quantum protocol for both DC and AV problems by ...
متن کاملThe Power of Anonymous Veto in Public Discussion
The Dining Cryptographers problem studies how to securely compute the boolean-OR function while preserving the privacy of each input bit. Since its first introduction by Chaum in 1988, it has attracted a number of solutions over the past twenty years. In this paper, we propose a new solution: Anonymous Veto Network (or AV-net). Our protocol is provably secure, and is better than past work in th...
متن کاملA Proxy Multi-Signature Scheme with Anonymous Vetoable Delegation
Frequently a group of people jointly decide and authorize a specific person as a representative in some business/poitical occasions, e.g., the board of a company authorizes the chief executive officer to close a multi-billion acquisition deal. In this paper, an integrated proxy multi-signature scheme that allows anonymously vetoable delegation is proposed. This protocol integrates mechanisms of...
